Dalai Lama Himalayan Trek

Embark on an 11-day journey from the bustling streets of Delhi to the serene heights of the Indian Himalayas. This special trek begins and ends in Dharamsala, the home of the Dalai Lama and a centre of Tibetan culture.

Along the way, you’ll follow the Uhl River through rhododendron forests, visit Buddhist monasteries, and pass through peaceful villages-an off-the-beaten-track route rarely explored by other trekkers

Over five days of trekking, you’ll walk an average of 15‑20 km per day and reach altitudes of up to around 3,000 m.

You’ll stay in a mix of basic campsites and simple lodges, sharing tents or camp beds, and your days will involve a mix of steep mountain paths, peaceful valleys, and forested trails.

As well as the trekking, the trip offers cultural moments: visit Hindu temples, explore Tibetan monasteries, and connect with local communities.

For those wanting to extend the adventure, there’s also an optional extension to the Taj Mahal, Keoladeo National Park, and Fatehpur Sikri.

Getting there is part of the adventure: you’ll travel by overnight train in 4-berth sleeper carriages to reach Dharamsala.

Finally, this expedition supports local communities and follows sustainable practices, ensuring a responsible and inspiring adventure.

Take on this incredible challenge and make every step count for the brave little heroes at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.
